Well, this offering is timely. Sage Goddess turns 12 in July, and so much of our magic over the years has been woven into something called Elder Council. EC is a ceremony we hold once a quarter with our online class members to help them connect with their spirit family and wisdom teachers (not a member? Join here). The tools for this ceremony have morphed and shifted over the years, but I want to tell the original story here. Yes, there was an original point of creation for Elder Council. Read on if you feel called. And the perfume and incense blended for this OG listing are the original recipe, same ingredients, original intention. And limited edition, for reasons noted below.

When I started Sage Goddess, my first online class was called the Magical Sabbatical, and the first Elder Council, which my spirit guides said I was ready to do even though I went kicking and screaming because it felt so daunting, led me to an older part of San Francisco and an apothecary owned by a straight-up Atlantean descendent of Thoth. He even looked like Thoth. On the hottest San Francisco summer days, he still burned a fire in his fireplace and told me stories of Egypt. I loved him. He was so well respected as a shopkeeper and wisdom weaver for decades that he was invited to sun dances and shamanic vision quests across traditions and timelines. Everyone could see and feel his magic. And then suddenly, he died almost ten years ago.

Another cycle completing this year at Yuletide.

He blended incense in the old ways, kept it in big jars with handwritten labels, and measured it out without measuring, if you know what I mean. He would tell you what you needed and why you would need it. We have so few true seers anymore. I knew he knew. Now, all these years later, I look at each label with gratitude because they were his while he was here. This is the medicine of Elder Council. Enjoy the true magic while it lives. It is precious.

There are seven main ingredients in the Elder Council blend (I keep the specific recipe close, as my friend did with his own) and then, like the old days, a pinch or two of his original blend of more than 14 essential oils and herbs (which I have very little left of now, with no way to recreate). He never even told ME the full list of ingredients! These sacred tools open the doorways to the Elder Council, which should be entered with humble respect and reverence. This work should not be taken lightly, and you need tools to get there.

I lead quarterly Elder Council meditations in my SG Living Magic program, and it’s a potent spiritual experience where decades of wisdom are transferred in minutes and incredible shifts in lifetimes of patterns occur. To learn more about joining, visit here.

The deeper magic of my OG Elder Council Perfume and Incense

When burned or used in anointing, Elder Council Perfume and Incense will shift the energies in your sacred space and prepare you to engage with the wisdom of your elders. It’s an earthy and mystical blend of more than 20 all-natural essences, including sandalwood, palo santo, cedar, white sage, white pine, eucalyptus, patchouli, myrrh, frankincense, bay, and ceremonial tobacco. I crafted this ORIGINAL version of my deeply spiritual blend with great care — each ingredient is chosen by hand to bring you to the table of your elders.

Did you know that incense was the first form of perfume? The word ‘perfume’ literally means ‘through smoke,’ and our ancestors used incense to scent their bodies. Ancient Egyptians and Romans would ‘perfume’ the air with the incense they burned. They believed that the sacred smoke of incense would raise all surrounding vibrations and assist them in their magical practice. Burning incense, and anointing with a corollary oil blend, is a great way to clear energy and connects us with the ancients in a powerful and beautiful way.

Burn my Elder Council Incense and anoint with my OG perfume to tune into your inner stillness and allow your soul to be guided. It’s here where you will receive the wisdom you seek. And so it is.

Athena
