Hecate is the Greek goddess of the in-between, the place between life and death, and acts as the guardian of the crossroads. Her gifts are transformation and release, and she stands at the gateway to new possibilities and opportunities. When you arrive at the threshold, you have a choice on how to proceed. Are you ready to attract something new and release what no longer serves? In mythology, Hecate blazed the night with torches, guiding Demeter in search of her daughter Persephone, who had been abducted by Pluto. Hecate was often depicted with a torch, bringing light and wisdom to the world, as well as keys to open the gates between the worlds and access the hidden knowledge beyond.

I love Hecate. At first, the cedar can feel overpowering, but it mellows out (between the time you put it on and walk out the door) into something so badass, and yet feminine – ancient and yet sensible, and definitely magical. I’ve gone through it so fast. I love it.

Hecate is an amazing potion — dark, deep, potent, fascinating, witchy, and strange. It’s not one I’d ever use frivolously — I use it on her feast days, to call in the protective powers of Ἑκάτη Αποτρόπαια — Hekate who wards off evil — in ritual, and now again in the month surrounding Samhain. The goddess was also traditionally invoked in mourning, and I think this potion could be very appropriate for that.

Hecate as a Goddess holds a certain allure for me. I respect her. Her scent does not disappoint. I got a sample first, and knew I needed a whole bottle. It’s mysterious, sophisticated, and beautiful. I save it for times when I want to invoke those attributes.

I have searched far and wide for a truly dark and pure anointing oil with the truest embodiment of Goddess Hecate. She definitely resides in this beautiful, ample bottle. For me, it is earthy, mysterious, seductive and complex, as I wear it, the notes truly develop and mystify my senses into direct connection with Hecate. This fragrance doesn’t disappear on me but develops into a luxurious essence of the goddess. By far a truly magical and provocative scent.
