Campo del Cielo Meteorite is an authentic meteorite fragment mined in Argentina, where a meteorite crashed in the Pre-Columbian era. The indigenous people tell the story of a meteorite falling from the sky in a place they called Piguem Nonralta, which translates as Campo del Cielo, or “Field of the Sky”. Rediscovered by the Spanish in the 1500s, the fragments found so far exceed 60 tons, making it the heaviest meteorite ever discovered on Earth. When these meteorites were first discovered, the Spanish assumed they were a form of silver, and brought back samples that were described as being of unusual purity.
