From the OG days of SG, my Belladonna Perfume with Ylang Ylang & Neroli is back! Custom blended right here at SG Headquarters, this perfume replicates the magic (albeit in a safe and synthetic form) of belladonna from the plant family Solanaceae. The root of the word Solanaceae comes from the Latin solare, which means ‘to soothe or comfort’ and refers to the mind-altering properties of many plants in this particular genus.
The legend of this plant is deep and mysterious, its powers potent and unyielding. As a master perfumer, I created a formula consisting of amber, neroli, ylang ylang, and cashmeran to duplicate the energy of this plant teacher but in a way that’s safe for topical application. These four notes are blended with alcohol, and all are fixatives, so this will be a long-lasting scent to guide and inspire you. Each bottle is also infused with a carnelian chip stone for passion, optimism, and empowerment. As nightshades are deadly plants, I created this perfume for you as a fun and exciting way to experience their magic safely, translating their energy into a scent you can wear every day.
The deeper magic of my Belladonna Perfume with Ylang Ylang & Neroli
Belladonna means beautiful lady, and she certainly is that! The plant was used in Renaissance Italy as a sedative and potion for beauty. In the wrong doses, natural belladonna is poisonous, so in this perfume, you enjoy all the benefits but none of the danger.
Belladonna was historically used in Rome as an offering to the goddess of war, Bellona. When used in a balm or unguent, European witches believed Belladonna was one of two herbs (the other being Mandragora) that could make them fly. Today, we call this flying ‘astral projection,’ and I designed this perfume to still support this practice but, again, with all of the energetic intentions but none of the harmful properties of the original plant.
In creating this scent, I chose four flowers to recreate the experience of working with this sacred plant teacher: Amber, neroli, ylang ylang, and cashmeran.
- Amber softens your central nervous system and indulges your senses, improving your connection to your deepest sensuality. A deeply protective ally, amber prevents psychic attacks, heals soul trauma, and readily repels anything dark.
- Neroli is protective, especially of your spirit, uplifting it and helping you understand your heart’s truest desires. Also a wonderful tool for lucid dreaming, astral travel, and communication with the spirit world.
- Ylang ylang, a natural aphrodisiac, helps the heart to open, facilitating the healing of deep emotional trauma. Cultivates inner joy, trust, and a true openness of heart, bringing balance to the mind, body, and spirit.
- Cashmeran helps you to feel more grounded and connected to your physical world and surroundings. Increases sensuality and the awakening of sensual and physical energies.

This blend has absolutely become my husbands favorite scent on me. I honestly need to be careful when I wear it around him 🔥🥰🤣. I’m sad though because it is also my favorite scent so I want to wear it everyday but would run out of it too fast. (So I use Within another amazing blend we can’t get enough of.) Everyone compliments it on me. It’s a perfect scent! Very intoxicating just ask my husband 🤣. Team SG… I need several refills please 🙏; it’s out of stock 😢.

I love this scent. I am one that typically goes for light floral scents and this does not fit that category. To me it’s a dark and mysterious scent; kind of Smokey and deep. It reminds me of summer nights telling ghost stories around the campfire. The vintage look of the bottle is gorgeous and timeless. My husband says it smells like poison. LOL but it will definitely find a place in my rotation and hopefully give me a little darkness and mystery. Definitely worth the money!

This has to be my favorite of Athena’s perfumes to date. The scent brings me back to my childhood and to a summer house I spent my summers from age 8 to 20. It is mysterious and soothing to me, almost in an intoxicating way. And that is ultimately what I want from a perfume. Athena, I would love a body butter or bath salt with this scent. Thank you!
