These Viking horn mugs will transport you back in history, to a time when villagers gathered in long wooden houses with earthen floors. Hear their raised mugs forcefully coming together, as they enjoy hearty food and drink, celebrating the fruits of their labors. The Norse people believe the gods and goddesses celebrate with the mortals, equally enjoying sensual pleasures. Perhaps Loki, the trickster god, is present, stirring up mischief. And in the corner, runes are cast in divination, so future plans can be made.

The deeper magic of these Viking horn mugs

These Viking horn mugs are 100% natural, from sustainably sourced ox and buffalo horn, with a wooden base, perfect for holding your favorite beverage. Vikings, like Native Americans, made use of all parts of the animal, never wasting anything. Horns are found on both male and female breeds of cow, sheep, buffalo, and goat, and horns are permanent – they do not shed or regrow. They have long represented strength and power, and they were prized as trophies, passed down through generations as a sign of leadership. The triple horn (three interlocked drinking horns) of the Norse god, Odin, is a symbol linking back to this god’s quest for a magical mead. Blowing a horn is said to affirm the power of Spirit.

Buffalo is the totem of abundance, reminding you to be grateful for all that you have been provided. Your attitude toward abundance affects the planet. Expressing gratitude and honoring all your relations will deeply connect you with the Earth and open the channel to Spirit, bringing peace and healing within and without. The ox (and bull) is the totem of strength, potency and physical fertility. The first two runes in the Elder Futhark are dedicated to the cow and bull. The ox is known for its sheer force, stability, boldness, and determination. This totem teaches you to put one foot firmly in front of the other, with patience and fortitude, resolved to achieving your goals. Embodying the spirit of the buffalo and ox, these viking horn mugs will infuse your beverage, space, and life, with hardy resolve, magical Earth power, and abundance.

Enjoy the connection with history, ancestors, Earth, and Spirit these mugs will awaken within you. Whether you use yours for drinking, or as a vase or container for something special, or just as spiritual adornment, may it remind you of our interdependence, profound resilience, the sacred cycle of giving and receiving, and the gift of life.

This listing is for one (1) Viking horn mug, as described above. I have two sizes to offer you: Small (about 5.5-6” tall x 4” wide) and Medium (about 6.25-6.75” tall x 4-5” wide). Please select whichever size you’re called to from the drop down menu, and allow for size fluctuation, as these are natural horns. Hand-wash only. Yours will arrive lovingly parceled for your enjoyment.

Cheers,
Athena
