Cat’s eye tremolite is a rare chatoyant variety of tremolite that showcases a glimmering band of reflected light across its surface — just like the slitted eye of a cat. A member of the amphibole family, tremolite grows in long, glass-like fibers that produce this highly prized light play.

Tremolite takes its name from the Val Tremona in the Swiss Alps, where it was first discovered. This winding mountain pass is home to one of the highest mountain roads in Europe and serves as a natural boundary between the German and Italian-speaking communities of Southern Switzerland. Fittingly, tremolite is prized as a high-vibrational gem of balance and harmony.
