The deeper magic of my Triple Goddess Incense

Incense was, in fact, the first form of perfume. Perfume literally means through smoke. Our ancestors also used smudging as the primary way to scent their bodies. Our Egyptian and Roman ancestors “perfumed” the air with the incense they burned. In pre-Christian times, frankincense was the most valued type of incense; it was rare, expensive, and prized.

This Triple Goddess Incense honors the three goddesses Hecate, Lilith, and Morrigan. Hecate is the Greek goddess of the in-between, the place between life and death, and acts as the guardian of the crossroads. Lilith originates in Sumerian tradition, appearing in The Epic of Gilgamesh. She appears again in the Kabbalistic tradition as the first wife of Adam. Associated with the dark moon, her themes are freedom, playfulness, sensuality, and sexuality. Morrigan comes from the Celtic tradition, and is The Witch Goddess, known for her ability to shapeshift, and is associated with water. She is believed to be the Lady of the Lake, and is a triple goddess herself, with embodiments of maiden, mother, and crone.
