Dear ones, these golden goddess shells are simply amazing – their surface is pearlescent and vibrant, and their shapes are well-defined and turned in the magical and elegant spiral form we’ve come to love so well. And these shells are more than just beautiful to look at, they contain the power to harmonize and transmute energy.
So, like the cycle of life, spiral shells work to stabilize unbalanced emotions and energies. They are one of my favorite tools for honoring the element of water in my altars and rituals.
The deeper magic of my golden goddess shells
These shells are spirals – beautiful, perfectly proportioned spirals. No surprise there. The spiral is pretty much Mother Nature’s favorite shape. It’s everywhere and it’s magical. And mathematical. The spiral is the physical embodiment of the famed Fibonacci sequence.
The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers where every new number is the sum of the previous two numbers. It starts at 1 and grows infinitely: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55… and so on, and so on.
These shells are a naturally occurring example of the Fibonacci sequence. If you express the sequence as a series of squares, the first square would be 1×1, the second square 1×1, the third 2×2, the fourth 3×3, the fifth 5×5, the sixth 8×8, and so on. And if you then draw a quarter circle in each Fibonacci square, they will connect to form an ever increasing spiral, just like in these golden goddess shells. This phenomena is also known as the Golden Ratio.
This sequence also appears unexpectedly often in nature. In addition to our well-known spirals, it can be seen in the way leaves grow on plant stems, the way tree branches grow on trees, in the fruit sprouts of a pineapple, the way an artichoke grows, and in the arrangement of a pine cone’s bracts.
