I love beautiful, sparkling treasures, and I know you do too! That’s why I am so excited to share with you some recently sourced jewelry that is so beautiful and also full of magic! As you know, I’ve been studying stones, crystals and jewels for more than 25 years and have been working with artisans and gem dealers from around the world for years so I can offer you great quality pieces like this at affordable prices. Most of these amazing, very limited pieces of jewelry were sourced by my good friend in Afghanistan, making them very dear to my heart and extremely unique.
This beautiful necklace that is made from malachite and black onyx gemstones is a great example. Hand made from more than 100 small malachite beads that are artfully separated on each side by two long black onyx stones. Each strand connects at the chest to three stunning malachite stones – two round and one cylindrical. I selected this piece because it instantly felt very maternal to me, like watching a baby bassinet swaying from two tree branches.
I also am in love with malachite for so many reasons. First, the stone is ancient, used by the Egyptians in jewelry sometime before 4,000 B.C. Malachite is just designed for modeling. Look at the luxuriant swirling patterns, striking light and dark green marbling. Gorgeous, right? This stone has now come to represent sensuality and beauty.
The black onyx beads are also very special. The name “onyx” comes from the Greek word for “fingernail”, like the translucent layer surrounding onyx. Look closely and you’ll see that it actually is almost white in color. According to myth, Cupid trimmed the nails of the sleeping Venus. Those clippings were turned to onyx stone to prevent even a part of Venus from dying.
I actually wear this necklace year round, and pair it against a dark background to help the malachite leap out! It’s casual enough to wear with your t-shirt and jeans look if you are running errands or having lunch with friends. Enjoy this beautiful piece of finery, my lovelies.
Treasure the goddess inside.
This listing is for (1) malachite and onyx necklace about 18” in length. Each piece is chosen carefully and vetted for quality. Shop with confidence.
