Alluvial quartz is special because of the intense process it endures to become what you see here. It is shaped in a riverbed, beneath layers of sand abrading the stone over time until it becomes smooth as velvet, like these specimens I’m offering.

But each piece must be strong and resilient enough to survive, because sand shares its mineral composition with quartz; they are one and the same at a DNA level. Thus, it usually requires a much denser, harder stone to weather the alluvial process. These pieces endured a tumultuous creation, but they are here – for you. And they radiate awesome magic.

How to work with these alluvial quartz stones

Alluvial quartz possesses all the same properties as clear quartz, but with an added layer of strength and resilience. Use this crystal for magnification and intensification. You can use it to enhance the powers of other gems and tools, to seal spells or intentions, to grid altar or sacred spaces, and to hold sacred space.

When I meditate to seal a specific intention, I like to hold my alluvial quartz and rub my thumb over its surface to feel the velvety texture. I encourage you to do the same. Let its distinct smoothness be a reminder of how the stone came to be – a reminder that your creation path is still under way. You must be resilient, able to weather the tumult, until you are ready to emerge.
