This Ostara Spring perfume honors the Spring Equinox – a sacred day when the sun crosses the equator, making the length of day and night equal. In the Northern Hemisphere, this day marks the arrival of spring. Magically, the vernal equinox is a time of celebration; we who practice the Old Ways honor the turn of season with ceremony, ritual, tool creation, and meditation. In our tradition, Ostara – the goddess of spring – is seen as the patron deity of the vernal equinox. She comes with her totem spirit, Rabbit, to bring birth, growth, and renewal to the land. The symbols of spring – eggs, flowers, bright colors (pink, green, yellow, and blue) can be found in nature as it comes to life. To learn more about Ostara, read my blog, here.
Ostara is an oil I’ve offered twice before, and I was asked to offer it again. This is a spin on the original fruit and flower essence perfume that screams spring, renewal and rebirth. It’s like walking through a garden in full magical bloom at the peak of spring in the warmth of April sunshine. I recommend using this perfume for all of your Ostara and Spring Equinox rituals and to welcome spring. You can use it all season long – I do! – and anytime you need to feel the fresh embrace of Ostara’s blessing.
A SIMPLE OSTARA RITUAL:
I recommend putting an Ostara candle in the center of your altar, surrounded by the gems and flowers. Then, whenever you want to begin your renewal work light your Ostara candle and feel her energy of rebirth surround you. Visualize how you want to restart your journey. Anoint yourself with a drop of Ostara oil at your crown, your third eye, on each of your wrists, and at your ankles – all the places that signify movement and clear sight. Ask yourself: What parts of your work need to begin anew? What parts of YOU need to be revisited, reimagined? Hold those visions while you watch the candle flame. Then set an intention for your work this spring. Really crystalize all of your ideas. Once you feel like you’ve sensed Ostara’s energies and visualized your changes and new beginnings, blow out the flame of your candle and open your eyes. I like to do this simple ritual every night in March, spending extra time in the meditation on the night of the equinox, March 20.May this magical perfume bless and scent your world with the magic of spring!
