The deeper magic of my Yggdrasil Perfume
“Yggdrasil” comes from “Yggr” meaning “terrible” and “drasil” meaning “horse.” It’s a reference to Odin, the god of healing, poetry, magic, and knowledge. In his unyielding search for knowledge, Odin sacrificed himself on the world tree. He’s known as the universal image on The Hanged Man Tarot card. Legend says his coat caught in the world tree’s branches, and he hung, suspended between heaven and earth. His horse and ravens were unable to free him, and he struggled with himself for nine nights. In this state of inner journey and surrender, Odin perceived the runes, symbols of the secrets of existence and life’s greatest values. After his transformation, while hanging from the tree, he was able to free himself and initiate his companions into the sacred lore of runes.
My Yggdrasil Perfume is blended with Himalayan cedarwood, cypress, kanuka, black pine, and lavender absolute. Himalayan cedarwood is a healing, protective, and purifying oil. I originally had mixed feelings when I first purchased this perfume in February. I wasn’t that big a fan. It smelled like vapor rub to me. The scent didn’t agree with me. Fast forward 3 months and I don’t know if the perfume has aged well but now it smells to me like a citrusy smoky blend when it dries down. I love it. Of course I love learning about the Yggdrasil tree as well. I highly recommend this perfume!
