Black beryl is a very rare mineral, and a first for my shop. You don’t find this stone often as it is quite new to the metaphysical and even geological world. The unusual coloring occurs from inclusions of black spinel. These inclusions are formed in planes perpendicular to the main axis of the crystal, so at certain angles, black beryl looks like it has elongated prismatic striations. When viewed from other angles, it’s gray to colorless. Due to this unusual structure, black beryl frequently is observed with what has is called a star effect. Findings of this rare gem are known in Brazil, Madagascar and Mozambique.
Beryl is quite common in its varying colors. Aquamarine, emerald, and heliodore are a few variations of beryl. The name beryl is derived from either the ancient Indian word meaning “stone that glitters,” or the Latin “berillus” meaning shine. So beryl has clearly been noted and used throughout history. Meditate with this stone or carry it with you to bring subtle yet powerful protective and grounding energy in around you.
I have two sizes of this stone to offer you. Small, which are about .25” in size, and medium, which are .5 – .75” in size. If you would like, you can have yours wire-wrapped so you may adorn yourself with its protective energy.
This listing is for one (1) piece of tumbled black beryl. Please choose your size from the drop down menu above. Yours will arrive beautifully bagged in organza, with a white sage leaf for clearing energy before use, as well as a card describing the properties of this stone in case it is new to you, or you are gifting it to another. Each is carefully selected and vetted for quality. Shop with confidence.
