Today, we know this process as smudging, and it remains a critical first step in any sacred ritual. I smudge daily to purify my sacred space before ritual, ceremony, or meditation. It’s an integral part of my spiritual practice – in fact, it’s what this community was built upon.

One (1) black moonstone smudging bowl, sourced from Madagascar. Black moonstone resonates with the Root and Crown Chakras and holds all the properties of white and rainbow moonstone, including feminine empowerment, lunar wisdom, wish fulfillment, gratitude, and expansion. Beyond that, black moonstone’s darker hue and deeper vibration make it a potent source of grounding and protection. One (1) palo santo stick (about 3”). Palo santo is a sacred wood that grows in South America. When Spanish monks discovered its clearing and healing properties, they named it “Palo Santo” which means “holy wood.” The sweet and mellow aromatic oils of Palo Santo develop over time, after the tree has naturally fallen and spent years on the ground. Shamans have worked with palo santo medicine for thousands of years. It’s physically and spiritually cleansing, enhances clarity, restores tranquility, promotes joy, and inspires creativity. Palo santo also deepens your connection with Divine Source and enhances meditation. The attraction to its fragrance is said to be a sign of spiritual and emotional purity.

At Sage Goddess, we only use sustainably sourced palo santo wood and oils. Our Peruvian partners only harvest wood that has died naturally and has been dead for at least 5 years. We never harm living trees! The dead wood is collected, cleaned and cut by hand. In addition, we are committed to replanting trees in the forests where we find our wood. This ensures that our palo santo forests are not susceptible to over-harvesting.

One (1) eucalyptus smudge bundle (about 5”). Eucalyptus is associated with Mercury and the Moon. This herb’s strong yet cooling scent increases concentration and mental expansion.
