Our September 2018 Gem Wise Set: Juno – The Many Crowns a Goddess Must Wear, is here! Gem Wise is my course on the magic of gemstones. This year, we are exploring “A World of Magic”, where I take students on an adventure into the spiritual practices of global civilizations and meta-cultures. The gemstones covered in each class relate to a specific theme and will be available for you to purchase every month in a special Gem Wise set.
Each month, we learn about the stones in the Gem Wise set, including their metaphysical properties and how to use them. Each set ties to a special theme and the focal civilization of the month. Our examination spans from ancient to contemporary times. Together, we tap into the power of these gems, infusing our own modern practices with their ancient magic. Included in our discovery are each culture’s associated myths and lore that have captivated imaginations for ages.
This set includes the gemstones and engraved acrylic grid that accompany September’s Gem Wise class. If you would like to join us for September’s Gem Wise class, click here.
September 2018 Gem Wise Set: Juno – The Many Crowns a Goddess Must Wear
This September, we are exploring the culture of ancient Rome. In this Gem Wise set, you will receive five very special gemstones inspired by the Roman Goddess Juno.
Juno is the Roman goddess of women, marriage, marital love, pregnancy, and childbirth. She is known as Queen of the Gods, as she is married to Jupiter, who is also her brother. Her father is Saturn and she is mother to Mars and Vulcan. Juno stands for commitment, loyalty, and faithfulness. She is a protector of community and finances, and especially of the bond between intimate partners. A traditional matron, she is a strong leader with an exceptional dedication to her state, people, and causes. Juno is said to be the giver of light during the new moon and to bring children into the light as they are born.
As the patron goddess of the Roman empire, Juno was given the surname Regina, meaning Queen, and was worshipped as part of the Capitoline Triad in an elaborate temple in Rome along with Jupiter and Minerva. In mythology, Juno appears as a majestic figure, wearing a diadem or crown. The peacock is her sacred symbol and stories tell of her riding a chariot throughout the skies pulled by her peacocks. She is regal, representing benevolent force and authority. She stands for women who rule over anything, from the home to office to entire nations. Her theology is complex and an issue of dispute in Roman religion. This is why she has so many descriptions and names with different meanings. Some of her titles are Juno Lucina, Juno Caprotina, Juno Curitis, Juno Sospita, and Juno Moneta.
Now, I will not reveal too much here, because we are excited with anticipation to explore these gems in our classroom this September. You won’t want to miss this class!
