Rosh Hashanah may be a holiday of Jewish tradition, but it is really a special and magical time for spiritualists of all kind, regardless of birthright. It was important to me to offer this Rosh Hashanah ritual set, in order to exalt its symbolism and history – so that you may also honor this time in your own way. For the history of Rosh Hashana is universal. It is your story, and it is mine.
This sacred holiday celebrates the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve; it is the Jewish New Year. Typically, Rosh Hashanah is celebrated the evening before with a very special meal; it is a time rich with tradition for Jewish celebrators. The ten days in between Rosh Hashanah and the next Jewish holiday, Yom Kippur, are known as The Days of Awe, when Jews take a look at their past year and can self-reflect. They see this as a time of repentance; but not in the material sense. It is very much on the interpersonal level, focused on relationships. If you’ve offended or hurt someone, The Days of Awe are when you can seek them out, account for your actions, and apologize to them.
Rosh Hashanah is so symbolic of renewal because of the ancientness of this holiday. One of the gorgeous goddesses who works with me shared that this was a time when she and her family felt the most centered, the most connected with their traditions. The meal, the prayers, the sounding of the shofar – or ram’s horn – and the resolutions that are set during this time are all sacred.
Use this ritual set regardless of your religious or spiritual affiliation. Rosh Hashanah is a time of renewal, new beginnings, and of starting over. These are all themes that we can all relate to, and fall is a perfect time to reflect, take stock of our year, to look back on what we created, reap our rewards, and to feel renewed. We can look at the relationships we cultivated and reflect on them to see if we have any amends to make, as well.
This ritual set includes one candle to honor Adam and Eve. The first humans, according to the Old Testament, were created in God’s own form. They weren’t perfect people, as you who are familiar with the myth well know, and through their exploration of free will, sin was created. However, it is important to look at these two naive humans and the consequences of their actions through the literary, symbolic lens. When we go about the world with too carefree an outlook, we might end up hurting others in our path. How can we view the world with new, innocent, fresh eyes, while still approaching life with compassionate thought and intention? How can we be more trusting, more enamored with the world around us? This candle will literally light your way as you explore what this creation myth means to you. What are you looking to create this year, as you embark, renewed and full of optimism, in your own Garden of Eden? This candle is anointed with my Tree of Life perfume and has carnelian chip stones scattered amidst the rolled sheets of beeswax.
You’ll also find a black tourmaline log in this set – a stone that channels Divine Masculine energy to protect you. I adore black tourmaline. It’s protective and grounding, yet gentle and comforting. Each is a tumbled piece of powerful protection magic you can’t afford to be without! In regards to honoring a new beginning and manifesting your resolutions, use this black tourmaline log to repel against and shield you from worries, fears, judgment, shame, anger, and other negative energies and emotions that could hinder you from going forward in your soul’s renewal process.
And lastly in this set, a stone to honor the Divine Feminine; chrysocolla. I consider chrysocolla one of my top ten powerhouse gems. It’s rare and very hard to find, even for me. Cleopatra used this stone as her diplomatic talisman; before visiting with heads of state in local regions, she would send a gift of chrysocolla. She believed it opened doors to steady negotiations, infusing a layer of energy and magic into conversations they would have in the future. This stone more than any other allows us to cry freedom and channel universal wisdom about our life purpose. Chrysocolla represents the sacred feminine; bolstered by ancient intelligence and tempered by strength. In terms of celebrating renewal and honoring your fresh start, use chrysocolla to calm you and release you from the tense holds of stress and anxiety, to link you with your intuition, and to attune you with the vibrations of the earth.
No matter what you are celebrating this Autumn, whether it is a religious holiday or just reveling in the equinox and harvest, this ritual set will allow you to express your gratitude for the seasons past.
This listing is for one (1) Rosh Hashanah ritual set, which includes one (1) Adam and Eve pillar candle, one (1) black tourmaline log (about 1” in size), and one (1) piece of tumbled chrysocolla (about 1” in size).
Blessings of fall magic,
