The most mysterious part is that these drawings can only be fully appreciated from the air, so the question arose – for what purpose did this ancient people create this art? Many believe ancient aliens or astronauts. Along with the drawings, which include a hummingbird, monkey, person/astronaut, and a set of large hands, there are series of lines and geometric shapes drawn into the surface of the Earth which are perfectly straight and continue for miles upon miles. It’s confounded us for years what purpose these drawings served, and how they managed to chart such straight and perfect lines. And from what inspiration did a desert people get the ideas for the animals they drew? (Whale, monkey). And what happened to the Nazca people, who quite similar to the ancient Sumerians, seemed to have contact with higher beings? It’s fascinating to me!
