Shadow season is fast approaching, and in preparation of this sacred time, I present you with Mabon Tools: The Golden Shadow. There is so much beauty in the shadows. Don’t you agree? Our light is important, but so is our darkness – the parts of us we’ve been taught to repress and hide, the aspects of our being that lay shadowed within the soul.
Psychiatrist Carl Jung believed that submerged within the shadow lay great creative potential – he referred to it as the “Golden Shadow” and explained that this is where our most deeply artistic, sexual, competitive, innovative, and intuitive nature lies. Jung proposed that by teaching people to repress the more “shameful” and “frightening” aspects of their being, we simultaneously teach them to disown their greatest potential for light. According to Jung, in order to fully awaken to our power, we must acknowledge our shadow.
The Golden Shadow is our submerged greatness, our dismissed and unknown strengths. It lies underneath our deepest emotional pain, waiting to be healed and shared with the world as illuminating gifts and talents – not as something to hide or be ashamed of. The Golden Shadow is the part of our soul that offers the strength and love necessary to heal the areas where we have experienced the most hurt and lack. And from this healing journey, great beauty, creativity, and wisdom may arise. We can discover our Golden Shadow in the admiration we hold for others – the illuminating qualities that we see in others are the disowned aspects of our infinite being, the parts of us that are yearning to break free.
The deeper magic of Mabon Tools: The Golden Shadow
This Mabon, we will find the balance between the light and dark by looking within our own shadows. Use the tools of this offering to begin identifying, understanding, and integrating your shadow, so that you may step into the fullness of your being and experience the power that comes with the acceptance of your duality.
The first tool that you will receive in this offering is one (1) Golden Shadow Candle Duo, which will consist of one (1) skinny gold candle and one (1) skinny wine candle, wrapped together in one beautiful, custom-designed label. Light these candles during your Mabon ritual to pay reverence to both your light and shadow. Meditate on the two flames, and envision both sides of your being merging as one.
Next, you will receive one (1) 10 ml bottle of Golden Shadow Perfume, a blend of allspice, patchouli, and pink peppercorn. Anoint yourself with this elixir before, during, and after your Mabon Ritual to call forth the magic of your Golden Shadow. Each bottle has been infused with a clear quartz chip stone for amplified magic. You will also receive a Golden Shadow gemstone set, which will include the following:
One (1) golden magnetic hematite (about 1”). Magnetic hematite is grounding, balancing, and peace-bringing. This gem is known to soothe the effects of toxicity in the bloodstream and allow better movement of energy throughout the body. Work with this gem to dispel negative energies and to make way for good vibrations to flow through.
One (1) golden sheen obsidian (about 0.75”). Golden sheen obsidian is the only stone known to assist in the integration of the shadow. This stone will help you identify the parts of you that are unacknowledged and hidden, so that you may bring them forward into the light.
One (1) natural golden topaz (about 0.75”). Golden topaz is a stone of creativity and fiery manifestation. This gem will aid you in building abundance that aligns with your Highest Calling. It will help you synchronize your thoughts, actions, and intentions, and will bring forth a joyful acceptance of your Divine Purpose.
One (1) tumbled labradorite (about 1.25”). Labradorite is a stone of transformation and possibility. This gem facilitates new beginnings, and it is a powerful ally for anyone undergoing a period of spiritual transformation and expansion.
Lastly, you will receive one (1) Shadow Jar Crafting Set, which will come with one (1) jar and lid; one (1) herb satchel filled with a combination of white sage, oak bark, dried rose petals, passion flower, hawthorne berry, and yarrow; and one (1) set of intuitively chosen chip stones. During this ritual, we are asking you to look within yourself at what you have been burying within your shadow. This jar is where you will energetically put what you find. Use symbols from around your house and sacred space to represent what you want to get rid of as well as what you want to let shine. For example, if you tend to overly worry about money, put a penny in the jar to symbolize your release of this fear. If you want to bring more love into your life, put a piece of rose quartz or a heart-shaped item within the jar. Once you’ve placed your items within the jar, seal it with your herbs and chip stones inside, add honey, or agave, and burn one of the candles over the top to seal your intention allowing it to work its magic. The possibilities with this Shadow Jar Crafting Set are truly endless – so have fun with it!
