The deeper magic of this Hug of the Goddess Grape Agate Sphere

Grape agate is really chalcedony and quartz. It was first mined in 2016 in West Sulawesi, Indonesia. Grape agate is found in the jungle there, on the side of the mountains. It comes from a volcano – formed in the pockets of a special kind of lava. The most interesting part is the mining process. It takes hours to hike up to where the stone is found. The area is covered in thick vegetation that has to be cut, which takes hours. Then they have to look for the pockets where the grape agate forms. When they find it, they use hand tools to access it. Not all grape agate is purple – some pieces are clear or pinkish-purple. The real purple is the best of the best. They don’t know if they’ll find more of this stone and carving it is tricky. If you think about the human time and energy it takes to get one piece of carved grape agate, it’s incredible. I estimate it takes 16 hours to do it all.
