Tumbled Peacock Stone

For the FIRST time ever, I’m so excited to offer this Tumbled Peacock Stone! Also known as bornite, this gem is revered as the “Stone of Happiness.” Not to be confused with peacock ore or chalcopyrite – which is mostly made up of copper and zinc – this metallic gem is made up of mostly copper and iron, making it a powerful tool for restoring the flow of life force energy and invoking power, protection, and courage. It gets its name “Peacock Stone” because over time, as it oxidizes, it develops a gorgeous display of colors – shades of copper red, pinkish gray, iridescent purple, crimson, blue, and black. These colors may not be visible in this piece because it’s a tumbled stone. During the process of tumbling, the colorful parts that previously formed are polished away (what the stone looks like before the oxidation process occurs). Once you start holding and working with this tumbled stone, the oxidation process will begin again, and over time the colors may come back.
