I saved one of the most important perfumes of the year for today. Bee Priestess Perfume is a blend I’ve wanted to craft for a long time – a scent honoring the Melissae of Ancient Greece, as the bee priestesses were described. “Meli” in Greek means smoothly flowing, and the name Melissa describes one who flows like honey – whose essence is so deeply connected to rivers of prosperity and grace that it’s effortless for them to embody divinity. In the Homeric Hymn, the Melissae are mentioned as sisters, teachers of divination, and keepers of truth so long as they have access to their honeycomb:
“But I will tell you another thing, Son of all-glorious Maia and Zeus who holds the aegis, luck-bringing genius of the gods. There are certain holy ones, sisters born — three virgins gifted with wings: their heads are besprinkled with white meal, and they dwell under a ridge of Parnassus. These are teachers of divination apart from me, the art which I practiced while yet a boy following herds, though my father paid no heed to it. From their home they fly now here, now there, feeding on honey-comb and bringing all things to pass. And when they are inspired through eating yellow honey, they are willing to speak truth; but if they be deprived of the gods’ sweet food, then they speak falsely, as they swarm in and out together. These, then, I give you; enquire of them strictly and delight your heart: and if you should teach any mortal so to do, often will he hear your response — if he has good fortune. Take these, Son of Maia, and tend the wild roving, horned oxen and horses and patient mules.”
The deeper magic of my Bee Priestess Perfume
Honey has long been seen as a tool of healing. Hippocrates, the ancient Greek father of modern medicine, was famous for saying he could cure any ailment with either honey, apple cider vinegar, or both. Thus, we begin to see a steady reliance on and deep reverence for honey in ancient times.
Today, women named Melissa, or lovers of “bee balm” which is a form of the melissa plant, are considered wise women who descend from the lineage of Apollo, sisters and keepers of secret wisdom. Are you ready to step into and embody that lineage too? If so, I made this perfume just for you. One of the ingredients is no longer available, so Bee Priestess is a limited edition blend with the following notes: Honey for happiness and healing, Egyptian amber for softening your central nervous system, bee balm for bee medicine and power, elderflower for spirit realm connection and positivity, ylang ylang for opening your heart, and jasmine grandiflorum for pure light and joy. This perfume is infused with a lapis lazuli chip stone for confidence, self-esteem, wisdom, and power.
Anoint with this blend when you wish to strengthen your magical ties and lineage. Wear this blend when you wish to feel like a Queen Bee. It smells strongly of honey and elderflower, and the remaining notes simply add to the magic ensuring power, strength, and wisdom for you all ways, for all your days.
This listing is for one (1) 17 ml bottle of Bee Priestess Perfume. Yours will arrive lovingly parceled, ready for your enjoyment.
