AroMagic is my co-ed course on aromatherapy and herbal magic. In 2018, we will explore “A World of Magic” as I take students through the history of global civilizations and metacultures. Each month we will learn about the herbs and essential oils of a focal civilization and a specific theme. Our focus will span from ancient times to the common era. Together, we will tap into the power of these herbs and essential oils by country and civilization, and harness it together to infuse our modern practice with the magic of all time. We will also explore each civilization’s medicinal and culinary use of herbs.
The herbs and oils covered in each class will be offered to you in a special AroMagic Set, available for purchase every month. Members will learn not only what the metaphysical properties and uses of the herbs and oils are, but how to use them to make DIY products for at-home use. Is AroMagic for you?
Aromatherapy is one of my soul passions and talents, and I hope to share it with as many of you as possible. But to start off, what is aromatherapy? It is the art and alchemy of working with scents and herbs, a beautiful exercise in releasing our analytical “monkey mind” intellectual tendencies to venture into the deep and vast knowing of our spiritual selves. Scent is one of the most powerful of our five basic senses; the olfactory bulb is adjacent to the oldest part of your brain, the limbic system, which is the seat of your deepest emotions, which is why scent evokes such powerful responses from people around the world. Scent is also mysterious. Your personal pheromones, in concert with scents you wear that you are drawn to, attract lovers and friends to you.
The magic behind perfumery and aromatherapy is as old as time itself, a complex art to be sure, and yet there are 1200 known scents on the planet at most. Even the most experienced perfumers have worked only with 400-500 of them (with perhaps several thousand variations and combinations). I’ve traveled the world and harvested oils and essences from a myriad of cultures to show you this year. You’ll be intoxicated and inspired as I take you on an intimate scent journey through history.
