Apothecary: May Class Essentials

Each month in Sage Goddess Apothecary, we work with a Goddess archetype as a sacred guide, diving deep into the lessons she brings through her mystical and healing associations. It’s an exploration of the herbs, flowers, resins, and gemstones associated with each archetype. Touching them, smelling them, healing with them, and even creating art with them.

In May Apothecary, we’re focusing on Circe, the enchantress with an otherworldly talent for mixing herbs and potions. Together, we’ll work with the tools in this set to explore the mystical and medicinal power of plants. We’ll focus on the power of potions, healing versus poison, and the role of dosage as a powerful boundary in medicine work.

Who is Circe?

In Greek mythology, Circe is a powerful sorceress. Skilled in manipulating herbs and potions, her knowledge allowed her to transform her enemies and those who wronged her into animals. Circe represents possibility, magic, and mastery. She is often shown with a wand or staff, ready to summon the great forces of nature and channel them.
A captivating and complex figure, Circe reminds us of the transformative potential residing in the realms of sorcery, the wells of magic brewing within all of us, and the importance of boundaries and self-control in how we choose to wield our magic in the world.

You will receive the following in your kit:

May Apothecary Herbs

Size: Vials about 2.5″

We chose these herbs to align with and enhance the energies of our monthly themes and archetypes. They will come lovingly packaged in brown glass vials with cork stoppers adorned with the Sage Goddess Apothecary logo. For May, you will receive reishi mushroom powder, mandrake root, and kava kava.

Reishi mushroom, also known as the Mushroom of Immortality, is one of the oldest mushrooms known for therapeutic use. It’s a gentle yet powerful antioxidant and adaptogen that balances the hormonal system. Working with reishi mushrooms is like drinking from the fountain of youth.
Mandrake root, the original flying herb, is known to make the spirit buoyant, aiding astral travel and projection. The whole root is difficult to source, but this is where the concentration of psychoactive, hypnotic, and sedative properties lies. Mandrake is a nightshade, healing but poisonous in large quantities.
Kava kava is a natural aphrodisiac that promotes relaxation and eases both insomnia and feelings of anxiety. This protective plant also helps you achieve higher levels of consciousness.

May Apothecary Oils

Size: About 1 ml each

We chose these oils to support and elevate the month’s themes and evoke the energies of the month’s archetypes. Each oil is blended with jojoba and comes in a brown glass bottle with a roller ball applicator. For May, you will receive frankincense, plai, and wormwood.

Frankincense encourages spiritual travelers to drop out of their minds and let go of limitations, making space for greater connection to the Divine. Its transformative nature outlines what no longer serves you, dispersing that energy so you can experience joy and stay present.
Plai has a fresh, herbaceous, slightly spicy aroma similar to ginger. This oil soothes nerves and promotes wellness of body, mind, and spirit. It also reduces feelings of restlessness and anger, bringing you into a state of centered tranquility.
Wormwood is a Third Eye Chakra herb that facilitates astral travel and spirit connection. It aids in psychic awareness and divination and is excellent for prophetic dreams. It’s also cleansing, protective, and transmutes negative energy.

May Apothecary Offerings

Size: Bag about 4×4”

Each monthly Apothecary tool kit includes an offering to add to your offering bowl during our sessions. It comes lovingly packaged in a burlap drawstring bag adorned with the Sage Goddess Apothecary logo. For May, you will receive the following:

A piece of osha root for healing, protection, and wellness. Often referred to as ‘bear medicine,’ osha root is eaten by bears in the wild for its natural medicinal power and burned by humans for protection against evil spirits.
One bat’s head root for good luck, shielding, and connecting to what lies beyond the veil. This pointy, protective talisman also enhances the potency and energy of anything you add it to.

60 ml Apothecary Jar

Size: About 2”

This round glass jar with a glass cap is painted a beautiful teal color. It’s the perfect vessel for blending the herbs and oils in this kit. Teal resonates with the element of water and the Throat Chakra, bringing flow to communication and learning. Think of the way an ocean moves. It flows free and wild, surging with a natural tide, allowing and not resisting.

Herbal Oracle Cards

Size: About 4×6” each

Each month, you’ll receive three cards featuring stunning artwork by our talented Bruce. You will receive cards for reishi mushroom, mandrake root, and kava kava in May.
